Observations
- At the Barcelona cruise terminal, check-in happens very quickly for people who will carry luggage up to the ship on their own
- A post-security duty-free shop exists (as of my sailing) where passengers can purchase any alcohol they wish, without it getting checked by anyone
- did not buy a drink package; did not need one!
- Used my esim card to use internet when on port
- did not buy an internet package; did not really need one!
- Onboard entertainment was decent but nothing really to write home about
- Celebrity ships are very chill with no one pressuring anyone to do anything
- pools and hot tubs were empty during the early mornings
- Magnetic hooks work on the walls of staterooms
- The ship itself had a 50-something kind of crowd
- not a lot of children (or people under 40)
- not a lot of super-old people as well
- Highlights included a silent disco and a Beatles cover band
- Some ports required a tender boat before setting foot on shore
Reflections
With three sea days, this cruise felt relaxing with not an excessive amount of sightseeing. Of course, Morocco, with Tangier, became the main highlight of the trip as I set foot on the African continent for the first time in my life!
Food was alright at the buffet and they tried to match the cuisine theme of the place where we had our ports-of-call, e.g.
- paella (Spanish fried rice) after Barcelona
- bacalhau (cod) after Lisbon
- kebab after Tangier
I had a balcony stateroom on my last cruise in 2023 but downgraded to an indoor stateroom on this cruise. Interestingly, I found that this persuaded me to go outside the stateroom more often to enjoy the rest of the ship! I did not feel the need to have a private balcony all that much.
